Hyojin’s academic interest includes developing new porous materials, and she is passionate about exploring novel functions of porous materials for environmental and energy applications. Outside of her studies, she enjoys running in the beautiful parks of Seattle, which helps her stay active and clear her mind.

Jay was born in Seoul, South Korea and grew up in Toronto, Canada. At the University of Toronto, he worked with Bob Morris and found his interest in inorganic chemistry. Subsequently, he worked with John Corrigan and Yining Huang at the University of Western Ontario working on nanocluster and nanoparticle synthesis. In the Reed Group, he is developing new ways of making porous conductive materials.

Austin is Ph.D. student in the 2023 cohort researching metal–organic cages for metal separations. He obtained his B.S. at UC San Diego where he worked in the lab of Dr. Seth Cohen studying the surface chemistry of metal–organic frameworks. In his free time, Austin likes to break(dance), play video games, and work on independent projects.

I grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana and graduated in 2024 with my B.S. in chemistry from Saint Louis University. During my time at SLU, I worked under Prof. Marvin Meyers, where I synthesized small organic molecules for potential use as drugs. In my free time, I enjoy running, hiking, and game nights with friends.
